“My Why”
Let me say this having a doula is hands down one of the best things I could have done for my birthing journey. Not only does she prepare you physically, but mentally she gets you prepared as well. Being a first-time mom, I had no idea how much information and encouragement I needed to bring my baby in the world, and she did just that.
She encouraged me, gave me tons of resources and information, and even prayed with me (I am forever grateful). At a point became my therapist postpartum when I started to develop baby blues. Not only did she stay with me during my pregnancy but even 6 weeks postpartum to make sure that not only baby was okay but that my needs were being met.
The overall experience was amazing from teaching me how to breath/push during delivery. To encouraging me postpartum when it was becoming difficult for me to breastfeed, that though I wanted to do so, whatever choice I chose to make for my baby was a good choice.
She made me feel confident and reassured despite the feedback I was getting from others. I don’t think I could have done it without her. Mrs. Dawn is truly amazing.

My name is Undrea and Mrs. Dawn was my daughter’s doula. I first hired Mrs. Dawn because my daughter wanted to have a natural labor. I was clueless to all the information and preparation that went into it. Ms. Dawn was everything we didn’t know we needed.
Even though my daughter chose to have an induction and an epidural, Mrs. Dawn was still her advocate throughout the entire labor. She kept my daughter calm (because I was a mess) for at least 4 hrs. of hard labor before she got an epidural.
She let us know our rights when we felt rushed to have a c-section, which she did not have! I thank God for Mrs. Dawn; she made my first grandchild’s entrance into this world a more enjoyable one. She is highly recommended.

Being a first time mom there is so much you will have to encounter mentally, physically and emotionally, I knew being here with just me and my partner with no family we would need that in person support system Mrs. Dawn came into our lives towards the end of my pregnancy we had meetings each month rather it was in person or zoom video calls she set me up with amazing positions, books, a maternity ball and also things to think about for post-partum such as groups and lactation consultants.
During my labor she was there from start to finish she also remembered everything I wanted on my birth plan! I wish she was there with me the next day because she would have kept me focused but all this to say she was awesome, and she helped me stay focused and bring in a healthy baby boy!

Parenting is one of the most overwhelming but exciting experiences in life today. It doesn’t start as soon as the baby is born, it starts during pregnancy. To see your significant other’s body, change during pregnancy is amazing but can be quite stressful for them. This is the point where help is needed. Mrs. Collins presented her services very well and executed like she was supposed to.
She is very respectful. She took on the challenge of teaching two individuals she didn’t know how to engage in parenthood. She eventually became family. She provides helpful research that you may need and hands on exercises that can be used to enhance pregnancy/birth. I would recommend expecting parents especially new parents to her because her service is great and she’s always there if you need her.

The experience of having a Doula was a learning experience that I truly enjoyed. Dawn was Very knowledgeable, fun, supportive, answered all our questions or did research and found out the answers, encouraging and uplifting. Having a doula brought things to our attention that we didn’t know and things we never thought of. Learning that we are more in control of our birth experience than we ever knew was good to know. In all honesty, I would recommend others to start earlier in their pregnancy with a Doula.

As a new mom to be I knew I wanted all the help I could get, especially on a professional level. Having family there was something I wanted as well but I wanted them to be able to just be present for the birth and assist as needed. I wanted someone with the experience and endurance to handle me, so I looked for a doula.
At first, I will admit some of the techniques Dawn and I practiced seemed totally unnecessary but definitely came in handy during those long hours of labor! (Even if you feel stupid just do it!) She was there EVERY STEP OF THE WAY and made sure my needs were met! She made sure I had my breathing techniques down, kept my body relaxed through contractions while she applied pressure, had water and a fan handy, rubbing oils and plenty of words of encouragement! After my experience with her I feel as though every mother needs to have a doula present for birth. And more specifically a Doula like Dawn because she did an amazing job and will be present for any other baby I have. I can’t thank her enough for long hours of hard work with me!

Why a Doula?
As a first time mom, I am so glad that I hired a doula. More specifically, I’m forever grateful that I teamed up with Dawn. From prenatal sessions to her encouraging calls and text messages, Dawn has been a pivotal part of my journey to motherhood.
I learned a lot and gained insight throughout our time together. Dawn shared research and information that allowed me to make informed decisions along the way. Not only was Dawn a blessing to me, but also a huge support to my husband. During the prenatal sessions that he attended, he walked away feeling much more prepared for parenthood. These sessions were informational but also very intimate and fun.
One of my favorite things about this doula experience is that Dawn truly listened to what I wanted. She made me feel comfortable from the beginning and we continued to develop our relationship from there. My labor and delivery was absolutely beautiful. Without Dawn, I don’t know that my husband and I would have felt so confident and relaxed. She supported us the entire way. Especially with my breathing.
I highly recommend her services to expectant moms. I’m walking away a new mommy feeling extremely empowered and it wouldn’t have been possible without her.

Hello everyone, who is visiting and maybe considering using Dawn as a Doula. I had the absolute best experience she is very patient, kind and knowledgeable. When I say she is knowledgeable I mean she is very thorough, logical, and practical.
She has good reason for everything she does. Additionally, all her viewpoints can be proven and backed up with research and resources. This was very important to me because during my pregnancy I was very high risk and on bed rest.
So, the majority of my care had to be tailored with home visits, and she took care of me with so much grace, sincerity and love. If you’re on the fence I want you to use her, 10 out of 10 would use again.

Where do I even begin? I'd first start by saying that I'm a 37 yr. old mother who just gave birth to a healthy, thriving, bubbly little boy! Let's rejoice in that!
I can honestly say that choosing Birth Matters b/c Family Matters® LLC was one of the best decisions I’d made my entire pregnancy. When I came to Dawn in search of a Doula, I was just closing out my 1st trimester and realized I didn't want to journey alone and thankful we didn't have to.
Initially my husband wasn't convinced that this was something we needed; however, let's just say we might not have made it through our pregnancy & delivery as well as we did without her and the services she provided.
Dawn was so very accommodating and in tune with what our family needed. It's like God just showed her each session where to begin and even when to call and check in on us. We were educated and also informed about decisions and all things baby that needed to be addressed beforehand.
Beyond the evidence-based information provided to each client during the sessions, she was just able to add so much to our lives. During labor and delivery having a Doula by my side, available, equipped, and ready for what was to come brought me such comfort and reassurance during our birthing experience.
I couldn't have had my needs met, honored or respected as close to my preferences or received emotional support from the staff in the hospital alone. The level of care and attention given to us by Dawn was most definitely more than we expected! If you're looking for someone who is professional, knowledgeable, and truly cares about you and your family during your prenatal journey, she's the one!
